Acupuncture

Is a treatment method thousands of years old, which has its origins in China and which came to Europe around the 17th century.

It is a medical discipline which has its application in all fields of clinical medicine. It is concerned with prevention, diagnostics as well as with the causal and symptomatic treatment of disorders of the human organism.
In its cognitive methodology, it takes a systematic approach, looking at the human being as a whole, influenced by a specific environment.

In this view, health is nothing less than an energetic and vegetative balance, whereas illness is not an singular disorder, but a disturbance of this balance.

Acupuncture is one of the most effective methods of targeted reflective treatment.
In principle it consists of differentiated stimulation of specific places on the surface of the body, which brings on either a direct, local reaction, because the stimulation point is in the vicinity of the ill organ, or a diffuse, indirect reaction, if the stimulation point is at a distance from the problem. Several different points can be stimulated at the same time, according to the diagnosis in the individual treatment plan.
The stimulation is performed either mechanically, most often by slim needles, or thermal, with the help of moxa.
In accordance with the character of the illness and the state of the patient, active points on the surface of the body (classic corporal acupuncture) or points and zones of microsystems (in our office of the ear-auriculopuncture) are stimulated..

The effectiveness of acupuncture depends on the correct selection of acupuncture points, on the strength and character of their stimulation, on the combination of individual points, the method of stimulation and the individuality of the patient as well as his/her reactivity.

The essence of the effects of acupuncture lays in its action on the regulatory subsystems of the organisms through the stimulation of active points. The result is a revitalization and tuning of regulatory mechanisms, the adjustment of the controlling and management function of the central nervous system, influence on the immunological and metabological processes, the regulation of disrupted homeostatic functions as well as a heightening of the body’s immune system.
Acupuncture does not use any procedures which could harm the organism (it does not deliver foreign substances into the body, nor does it destroy its cell structure)

It has a significant sedative but also energizing effect; especially, physiotherapy appreciates it antispasmoic and analgesic effect.

Its additional psychological effect is undisputed in human medicine, but it should not be overstated, as acupuncture has proven to be very successful in veterinary medicine, where a psychological effect can hardly be expected.
Acupuncture in the OG Group is administered by MUDr.Ingrid Janíková –in her physiotherapeutic practice, but also in cooperation with gynecologists and obstetricians (we already have experience with the use of acupuncture in assisted reproduction – where prior to and right after the transfer of the embryo acupuncture is used to influence the blood supply as well as the tonus of the uterus, which facilitates the acceptance of the embryo by the uterine walls.)
